09 Dec Casey’s Story
We are honored to be able to post new testimonies of our students here at Adult & Teen Challenge in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. We hope you enjoy reading Casey’s story of transformation.
1.What’s your first name?
My name is Casey
2.How long have you been in the program?
I’ve attended Shenandoah Valley Teen Challenge for 5 months.
3.Tell us a little about your upbringing.
I was raised in a Christian family where I was taught good morals and values. We always were involved with the church and Christian families.
4.When did you start using drugs?
I believe I started using drugs when I stopped hanging out with Christian people that were pursuing God.
5.What led to you making the choice to use drugs?
There was a tragedy in my family where I lost my father at the age of 15. Soon, I lost all faith in God and doubted Him which led me away from the church, including my pursuit of Him. Now I was facing the world alone without both fathers.
6.What was your rock bottom that brought you to Teen Challenge?
I was lost in life. I had lost my identity and I lost my purpose.
7.What are your plans for the future?
After finishing the program, I plan to seek God at all costs. I will now stay open to God’s plan and purpose for me.
“For I know the plan I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”
9.What one piece of advice would you give to an addict that might be reading this right now?
I’m sure it’s hard but you must be patient, never lose faith and be consistent in prayer. God will come through to reach out to His children and restore them.
