02 Feb Kyle’s Story
My name is Kyle and I am from Fairfax, Virginia. I have been battling drug addiction most of my life. I had plenty of opportunities to excel in life, but instead I continued to make the wrong decisions and my drug use always got in the way. I surrounded myself with people that were toxic for me.
My substance abuse problems continued to get worse and I found myself stealing and manipulating people and situations so I could continue to support my habit. I caused a lot of pain to my family and to myself – putting myself in situations that jeopardized my entire future.
About a year ago, I was arrested on Felony Drug charges and did six months in Jail. At the lowest point of my addiction I turned my life over to Christ at a church service inside a jail. My lawyer spoke with me and offered me the Teen Challenge program as an option and a week later I arrived in the Shenandoah Valley.
When I first arrived, it was difficult and the program was harder than I expected. After a while things began to get easier and each day I would ask God to give me strength. Now, I am seeing God working through my life and strengthening my relationship with my family. He is giving me hope for the future and I am looking forward to the rest of the program.
The verse that I stand on is Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”
We hope Kyle’s Story was an encouragement!
