You Can’t Do It…Or Can You?

You Can’t Do It…Or Can You?

“You Can’t Do It…Or Can You?”

I remember in my addiction, people would always tell me “you’re a liar,” “you’re too far gone in your mess,” “you’re hopeless,” “you’re a drug addict who will never change.”  Those are just a few things I remember, there are much more.  There came a point in my addiction where I started to say those things to myself and believed what I was telling my heart.

There comes a time in an addict’s addiction where loved ones and even themselves have hoped for so long about the addict getting clean and changing but nothing has and that hope slowly fades away.

Let’s pause real quick and define what hope really is: to want or wish for with a feeling of confident expectation!  It’s that expectation that you know for sure something will change and that expectation slowly disappears when nothing does change as time keeps passing away.

The longer you are in your addiction, the worse and more intense these negative thoughts or should I say LIES become and the more you believe in thinking they are true.  This is where Satan starts to really have his fun.

“…He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

All Satan does is lie, he is the perfecter of lies and he will use anybody or anything to make you (addict or not) believe any lie he wants.

So where am I going with all this negative talk and speaking of Satan?…I’m going from darkness to light, from black to white.

“For the Word of God will never fail.” Luke 1:37  Other translations read it as “For nothing is impossible with God.”

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these?  If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:31

I’m going from discouragement to encouragement!  No matter how long you have been in your addiction, no matter what hope has been lost, no matter what others have said about you or to you…IT DOESN’T MATTER!  It’s time to start listening to what God has to say, it’s time to start believing what God’s Word says because it’s truth and faithful.  When I feel hopeless or discouraged, I always ask God to put His Word back in my mind and He always does, He always remains faithful and starts to encourage me.  You CAN do it!  You can get clean and sober; you can get freedom in your life; you can live a life full of confidence, joy, happiness, and satisfaction because God says so…because His Word NEVER comes back void or empty, but full and complete.  Nobody, not your parents, other relatives, friends, or even satan can be against us because God is always for us and when God is for YOU, anything is possible in your life no matter what lies you are facing.
