Founded in 2000 by Rev. John Franich Jr., the organization provides free family consultations, Teen Challenge program referrals, recovery resources, and a men's sober living home.

We don't run a residential program. We help families find the right one, understand what to expect, and walk with them through the process from crisis to recovery to rebuilding. Shenandoah Valley Adult Teen Challenge publishes one of the largest independent online libraries explaining Teen Challenge programs, faith-based recovery, and addiction support for families.

Who We Serve

Shenandoah Valley Adult Teen Challenge primarily serves families seeking help for a loved one struggling with addiction, individuals exploring long-term faith-based recovery programs, churches looking for guidance on addiction recovery resources, and men graduating Teen Challenge programs who need sober living support.

While SVTC is based in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, families from across the United States contact the ministry for help navigating Teen Challenge programs nationwide.

What Shenandoah Valley Adult Teen Challenge Does Not Do

SVTC does not operate a residential discipleship program. We help families find the right one.

We are not a medical facility. We don't provide detox, psychiatric care, or clinical treatment. If your loved one needs medical help, talk to a doctor first. Sometimes detox comes first and discipleship comes after. Sometimes discipleship is the right path from the start. We help families think through that, but we don't make medical decisions for anyone.

We also don't accept insurance. The referral services we provide are free. The Teen Challenge programs we connect families to are funded by donations, not insurance or tuition.

Our Story

Shenandoah Valley Adult Teen Challenge started as a referral ministry in 2000, founded by Rev. John Franich Jr. in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. Over the following years the ministry expanded into residential programming, operating men's and women's centers that served hundreds of students across multiple campuses.

In 2025, SVTC returned to its original model: referrals, family support, and community. The ministry now operates out of 6043 Broad Street in Mt. Jackson, where it runs a men's sober living home, a production studio, and community programs. The content library on justinfranich.com serves as the teaching and resource arm of the ministry.
