A Day at Orr's Farm Market

We took the guys to Orr's Farm Market in Martinsburg, West Virginia today for a day away from the building. The owner gave us a full tour of the farm, walking us through the orchards, the operation, and the history of a family business that's been running since 1954.
Orr's is a third-generation farm that started with George S. Orr, Jr. and a 60-acre orchard. Today it's grown into a major operation with a farm market, pick-your-own crops, a bakery, and agritourism events that draw families from across the region.
For our guys, a trip like this isn't just a day off. It's exposure to something they've never seen. A family that built something over decades through hard work and faithfulness. A lot of the men in our program have never been around that kind of generational stability. Seeing it up close plants a seed.
This was one of several outings that Shayne Weister and Seth facilitated this fall from our campus in Mount Jackson. Hikes in Shenandoah County, museum trips, a visit to Antietam, and a trip to Quantico. The goal is simple: show guys that life outside of addiction is worth living.
