Scripture & Hope
When Your Light Goes Out

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
We were lighting candles during the Christmas Eve service.
One flame at a time, passing the light from person to person. The room growing brighter as each candle caught fire.
Then someone's candle went out.
Without hesitation, the person next to them reached over and relit it. No announcement. No awkwardness. Just one flame sharing with another.
And I thought: that's a sermon right there.
When your light goes out, somebody else can light it for you.
We're not meant to carry our faith alone. We're not meant to keep our flame burning in isolation. There are seasons when the fire dims. When discouragement snuffs out hope. When you can't seem to find the spark on your own.
That's when you need someone to lean in and share their flame.
This is what the body of Christ is for. Not judgment when your candle flickers. Not abandonment when your light goes dark. But presence. Proximity. Someone close enough to reignite what's been extinguished.
And the reverse is true too. Your flame matters. Someone near you might be one breath away from going dark. Stay close enough to share your light.
I know this because one person at the door changed everything for me. It's about showing up for the people God gave you. And sometimes community carries each other through the unknowns.
Prayer Prompt
Has your light been dim lately? Reach out to someone who can help reignite it. Or is there someone near you whose flame is flickering? How can you share your light with them today?
