Two Pounds, Two Ounces
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
The phone rang again.
Another opportunity to say yes. This time it meant hopping in the car in the middle of an already busy week and driving over the mountain to UVA. Two days a week. Sitting in the hospital with a premature baby born at two pounds, two ounces. Six to seven weeks early.
No clue what the outcome would be. She might come live in our house. She might not. We didn't know.
But it wasn't about knowing.
The last time we got a call like this, it came an hour after the governor shut down the state for COVID. An hour. We didn't know if I'd have a job in a week. Didn't know how long the pandemic would last. Didn't know anything except that God was nudging our hearts again.
Will you do this?
Service isn't about seeing the ending before you start. It's not about having all the information. It's not about outcome.
It's about saying yes.
The obedience is up to us. The outcome is up to God. We just have to be willing to show up without knowing how the story ends.
That's what faith looks like with feet on it.
He's present even when we can't see the path. His track record gives us confidence to say yes. And we carry each other through the unknowns.
Prayer Prompt
Is there something God is calling you to that you've been hesitating on because you don't know the outcome? Ask Him for courage to say yes without needing to see the ending.
